SYNERGY DESIGN GROUP TO DESIGN ITALIAN-AMERICAN MUSEUM IN WAREHOUSE DISTRICT

Synergy Design Group to Develop American Italian Cultural Center’s
New Museum

Exhibit Design House Will Showcase Italian-American History
in New Orleans, Engage Guests With Multi-Sensory Museum

NEW ORLEANS, LA (August 24, 2018) — Synergy Design Group is proud to announce selection as the exhibit design house behind the new museum display coming spring 2019 to the American Italian Cultural Center (AICC) in New Orleans’ Warehouse District. The museum will document the assimilation of Italian immigrants into American and New Orleanian culture and retention of their own unique traditions through artifacts, works of art, family histories and more. Visitors are invited to view the exhibition upon its completion on the third floor of the AICC at 537 S. Peters Street, New Orleans, LA, 70130.

The museum display will guide visitors through the first arrival of Italian immigrants to New Orleans to present day, showcasing important aspects of Italian-American life along the way. Topics covered in the museum include art, religion, family and World War II. Synergy Design Group will incorporate a mix of audio (voice recordings, music) and visual media (photographs, artifacts, articles) for a multi-sensory guest experience. The AICC “celebrates Italian-American culture past, present and future,” and the new museum display promises to showcase the Italian-American experience in detail and inspire and engage visitors (AICC, n.d.).

Synergy Design Group’s partnership with the AICC began in 2015 when the exhibit design house collaborated with the AICC’s marketing team to develop and install the American Italians in Jazz museum display. The interactive exhibit showcases influential Italian-American jazz musicians, including Louis Prima and Nick LaRocca, and their contributions to the jazz scene in New Orleans. The American Italians in Jazz exhibition is currently open to the public at the AICC Museum from 10 AM – 4 PM Monday through Friday.

NOMCVB’s Rebrand to New Orleans & Company Celebrates People and Culture

Introducing New Orleans & Company

May 16th, 2018 was a special day for New Orleans and our Synergy team. We attended the brand launch party of one of the city’s most influential organizations, New Orleans & Company, formerly the New Orleans Metropolitan Convention & Visitors Bureau. The tourism marketing organization’s rebrand was the first in over six decades and came at the perfect time as we honored New Orleans’ Tricentennial.

After rousing musical performances from Black Magic Drumline and the Victory Belles, New Orleans & Company President and CEO Stephan Perry revealed the new name and its meaning. “Company” refers to enterprise but also to the city’s warm and hospitable culture. Perry stated at the launch party, “We believe that our culture is our greatest strength and that the people of New Orleans create that culture.” The inclusive rebrand aims to represent the city’s residents, thousands of tourism industry employees and visitors who make New Orleans a top travel destination.

Stephan Perry, President and CEO New Orleans & Company reveals the new brand name at the launch party on May 16, 2018.

Following the announcement of New Orleans & Company’s new brand, our Synergy team and fellow event attendees took to the streets for a celebratory second line. We paraded our way through the French Quarter to the sounds of the Young PinStripe Brass Band. We danced alongside Mardi Gras Indians and almost bumped into jesters on stilts as we waved our New Orleans & Company handkerchiefs. The festivities concluded at the Steamboat Natchez with a champagne toast alongside the Mississippi River.

After the event we mused about why New Orleans is so alluring to visitors from around the globe. We realized that in today’s independent, fast-paced world, our “Do Whatcha Wanna” lifestyle brings people together (Rebirth Brass Band, 1997). At the launch party, Gregory Rusovich, CEO Transoceanic Development and New Orleans & Company’s 2018 Chairman of the Board explained that “New Orleans is the most authentic city in the world because of our unique culture. That’s the reason why millions visit each year.” And as Perry emphasized, culture exists because of the people. So in honor of New Orleans’ 300th birthday, we celebrate New Orleans & Company and the citizens who made this city great in the past, present and future.

Without "culture-bearers" like the Mardi Gras Indians, New Orleans "loses its soul," explained Perry during Wednesday's launch party.

Happy National Kite Month!

Happy National Kite Month! Did you know that West Baton Rouge Parish (WBR) is the Kite Capital of Louisiana? The area got its name from the parish’s largest festival, Kite Festival Louisiane.

In 2014, Synergy Design Group created a permanent display in the West Baton Rouge Convention & Visitor’s Bureau Tourist Information Center that showcases over a decade of kite flying in WBR Parish. Synergy installed custom wallpaper, colorful wall-mounted graphics and a monitor in a special alcove dedicated to kiting, emphasizing the beauty and freedom of the hobby.

5 Healthy Restaurants in New Orleans to Fuel Your Exhibiting

AORN New Orleans Healthy restaurants

Welcome, AORN New Orleans Exhibitors!

We are excited to welcome exhibitors to AORN New Orleans! We know you are going to be busy connecting with your peers during the conference, so to alleviate a little decision-making we prepared a list of five of our favorite healthy restaurants near the convention center for you to try. These restaurants have the fuel you need to keep up during busy days. If you decide to try one out let us know what you think!

1.) Two Chicks

Two Chicks is a favorite of ours for lunch meetings. The restaurant serves breakfast all day, filling lunches and fresh-pressed juices. Luz’s favorite juice is the Iron Chick! Two Chicks’ hours are Tuesday through Sunday 7 A.M. to 3 P.M. and it closes on Mondays.

2.) Carmo

Taking inspiration from Southeast Asia, West Africa, the Caribbean and South America, Carmo’s menu is not only fresh and eclectic but also emphasizes sustainable relationships with local farmers. The restaurant offers fresh soups, salads, and sandwiches for lunch and a more expansive dinner menu and opens on Mondays from 9 A.M. to 3 P.M., Tuesday through Saturday from 9 A.M. to 10 P.M. and closes on Sundays.

3.) Green Goddess

Green Goddess is known for vegetarian and vegan dishes but also offers meat options like the BSLT (pork belly, shrimp, lettuce and tomato on French). The magenta hue of the beet hummus dazzles and sides like pickled mirliton slaw and creole kale compliment any dish. Green Goddess is hidden in a tiny French Quarter alley but worth the trek from the convention center. The restaurant opens from 11 A.M. to 9 P.M. Wednesday through Sunday.

4.) Pulp and Grind

Where are my juice-heads at? Pulp and Grind offers your choice of house-made cold-pressed juices and a coffee bar. Perfect for people on-the-go, Pulp and Grind’s juices are filled with nutrients that give you energy. The shop is open from 6:30 A.M. to 5 P.M. Monday through Friday and 7 A.M. to 3 P.M. Saturday and Sunday.

5.) The Daily Beet

The Daily Beet is a vegetarian restaurant in the Central Business District. The restaurant offers salads, grain bowls, avocado toast, and more. They even serve made-to-order smoothies like the Blue Dream (blueberry, pineapple, mango and banana). Check them out every day from 8 A.M. to 8 P.M.

We hope these suggestions help you find somewhere tasty to eat during your stay in New Orleans. Fuel up at a local restaurant, strut your stuff on the trade show floor, and have some fun! Happy exhibiting!
