Happy National Kite Month!

Happy National Kite Month! Did you know that West Baton Rouge Parish (WBR) is the Kite Capital of Louisiana? The area got its name from the parish’s largest festival, Kite Festival Louisiane.

In 2014, Synergy Design Group created a permanent display in the West Baton Rouge Convention & Visitor’s Bureau Tourist Information Center that showcases over a decade of kite flying in WBR Parish. Synergy installed custom wallpaper, colorful wall-mounted graphics and a monitor in a special alcove dedicated to kiting, emphasizing the beauty and freedom of the hobby.

5 Healthy Restaurants in New Orleans to Fuel Your Exhibiting

healthy restaurant in new orleans aorn exhibitors

We are excited to welcome AORN exhibitors to New Orleans! We know you are going to be busy connecting with your peers during the conference, so to alleviate a little decision-making we prepared a list of five of our favorite healthy restaurants near the convention center for you to try. These restaurants have the fuel you need to keep up during busy days. If you decide to try one out let us know what you think!

1.) Two Chicks – Two Chicks is a favorite of ours for lunch meetings. The restaurant serves breakfast all day, filling lunches and fresh-pressed juices. Luz’s favorite juice is the Iron Chick! Two Chicks’ hours are Tuesday through Sunday 7 A.M. to 3 P.M. and it closes on Mondays.

2.) Carmo – Taking inspiration from Southeast Asia, West Africa, the Caribbean and South America, Carmo’s menu is not only fresh and eclectic but also emphasizes sustainable relationships with local farmers. The restaurant offers fresh soups, salads, and sandwiches for lunch and a more expansive dinner menu and opens on Mondays from 9 A.M. to 3 P.M., Tuesday through Saturday from 9 A.M. to 10 P.M. and closes on Sundays.

3.) Green Goddess – Green Goddess is known for vegetarian and vegan dishes but also offers meat options like the BSLT (pork belly, shrimp, lettuce and tomato on French). The magenta hue of the beet hummus dazzles and sides like pickled mirliton slaw and creole kale compliment any dish. Green Goddess is hidden in a tiny French Quarter alley but worth the trek from the convention center. The restaurant opens from 11 A.M. to 9 P.M. Wednesday through Sunday.

4.) Pulp and GrindWhere are my juice-heads at? Pulp and Grind offers your choice of house-made cold-pressed juices and a coffee bar. Perfect for people on-the-go, Pulp and Grind’s juices are filled with nutrients that give you energy. The shop is open from 6:30 A.M. to 5 P.M. Monday through Friday and 7 A.M. to 3 P.M. Saturday and Sunday.

5.) The Daily Beet – The Daily Beet is a vegetarian restaurant in the Central Business District. The restaurant offers salads, grain bowls, avocado toast, and more. They even serve made-to-order smoothies like the Blue Dream (blueberry, pineapple, mango and banana). Check them out every day from 8 A.M. to 8 P.M.

We hope these suggestions help you find somewhere tasty to eat during your stay in New Orleans. Fuel up at a local restaurant, strut your stuff on the trade show floor, and have some fun! Happy exhibiting!

Springtime Exhibitors: 6 Outdoor Eateries to Enjoy the Season

6 outdoor eateries to enjoy the season springtime exhibitors new orleans

Welcome to New Orleans, ACS exhibitors!

You’ve come during a beautiful time of year – there is nothing quite like springtime in New Orleans. To help you get acquainted with the city, we put together a list of six restaurants with outdoor seating so you can relax, unwind and recharge after the show while enjoying a truly New Orleans sensory experience. Our picks are all located close to the convention center (and Synergy!) and the Central Business District (CBD).

1.) Café Amelie – Café Amelie, located near Jackson Square, serves Louisiana cuisine and features the largest outdoor dining area on this list. Café Amelie’s patio features lush foliage and a relaxing fountain so wild and green that you may forget you’re in the heart of the city. The café serves lunch and dinner and is open from 11 A.M. to 9 P.M. Wednesday through Sunday.

2.) CellarDoor – CellarDoor is a Creole-inspired restaurant in the CBD featuring an outdoor patio. Menu highlights include Creole nachos, cracklin crusted redfish and Oreo beignets. The restaurant exclusively serves dinner and is open from 4 P.M. to 11 P.M. Monday through Thursday, 4 P.M. to 1 A.M. on Friday, 5 P.M. to 1 A.M. on Saturday and closed Sunday.

3.) Balise – Another CBD gem is Balise. Balise serves southern fare inside a beautiful cozy town home. The menu includes delicacies like pickled quail eggs and down-home favorites like gulf fish and shrimp stew. The restaurant is open from 4:30 P.M. to 10 P.M. Sunday through Thursday and from 4:30 P.M. to 11 P.M. on Saturday and Sunday.

4.) Above the Grid – One of our favorite locales is NOPSI hotel’s rooftop bar, Above the Grid. With ample outdoor seating overlooking the Crescent City, a pool area to lounge and unwind and a snack menu with intriguing locally-inspired dishes, we had to include this venue on our list. Try the house-made chips and dip or muffuletta bruschetta! Above the Grid is open to the public Sunday through Thursday from 4 P.M. to 12 A.M. and on Fridays and Saturdays from 4 P.M. to 1 A.M.

5.) Cochon – Check out Cochon for dinner and you won’t be disappointed. Their pork-based menu (Cochon is French for pig) will delight and it’s close enough to the convention center to walk! If this is your first time in New Orleans, you’ve got to try the fried alligator! The restaurant’s hours are 11 A.M. to 10 P.M. Monday through Thursday, 11 A.M. to 11 P.M. on Fridays and Saturdays and 11 A.M. to 10 P.M. on Sunday.

6.) Herbsaint – From the owners of Cochon comes Herbsaint, one of the Times-Picayune’s 10 best restaurants in New Orleans since 2003. Named after the “Spirit of New Orleans,” Herbsaint refers to the beloved brand of anise liqueur made famous after the city outlawed absinthe in 1912. The restaurant incorporates locally-sourced ingredients into their menu items such as Louisiana shrimp and fish ceviche and crispy goat with curried cauliflower. Herbsaint opens from 11:30 A.M. to 10 P.M. Monday through Friday, 5:30 P.M. to 10 P.M. on Saturday, and closes on Sunday.

We hope you will indulge your senses at one or more of these local restaurants during your stay in New Orleans. Perhaps your experience here will inspire another visit. We look forward to welcoming you and as always, happy exhibiting!

MARVELOUS MAMMON

After traveling all the way from Taiwan to exhibit at AAOS, our client Mammon made a mammoth impression with its 10×20 custom turnkey rental.

The single-sided graphic lightbox displaying Mammon’s logo, company name in 3D acrylic letters, and use of the organization’s colors throughout the booth increased its brand presence. An L-shaped counter with Mammon’s imprinted logo and custom color-coordinated carpet brought synergy to the booth. A white meeting area with café table and chairs added function while custom lit shelving created an illuminated retail product display that showcased its orthopedic soft goods.

We admire our clients for their fearless attitude. Coming halfway across the world to exhibit is no easy feat, and Mammon did it with grace. We wish you success in the future and hope to collaborate again.

Old World Meets New

Our client, Habana Port Cigars needed a custom display for their new retail location at the New Orleans Riverwalk. The father and son duo behind Habana Port were a lot of fun to work with. The challenge: one loves traditional elements while the other loves a more modern look. We developed a custom solution to combine the essence of both with their brand.

habana port custom retail display retail installation

To appeal to the old-world taste and for cigar storage function, we used cedar to create the custom, wall-sized humidor and added leather pulls for a distinct feel. The contemporary feel was defined by white quartz countertops, white acrylic 3D product names, and clean and bright LED side panels for product showcase illumination.

Functional elements include hidden vents for the display to work as a huge wall humidor and accessible storage on the cabinetry behind the top signage. The central pylon vertical retail screen and custom shaped signage tied together the modern materials and traditional finishes to create a professional and functional presentation at the Outlet Collection Riverwalk Mall.

The impressive details make this custom humidor retail display unique. Our client was pleased with the cohesive blend of old and new worlds that perfectly exudes their vision of Habana Port Cigars.

Glowing Prosperity

Cigar brands Warped and Casa Fernandez joined forces to exhibit together in 2017 at IPCPR Las Vegas, where merchants from around the world descend every year to display the latest and greatest tobacco products.

The challenge: two companies with similar products and goals but different personalities. Can modern edgy illustration and traditional photography complement each other? This island booth photos show they can.

Dual backlit company brands commanded attention on the front aisle. Beautiful large-scale images served as backdrops for the separate meeting areas with lounge furniture and cafe tables that allowed visitors to learn about each product. Product showcases, a display pedestal, and locking closet completed the functionality of the island exhibit.

Your brand is our passion. Developing a space that enhances your sales process takes knowing you and your product. At Synergy our objective is to turn your brand’s separate elements into synergistic, functional selling environments that reflect you.

The Coolest Guys in Town

How do you make the coolest guys look cooler? Synergy collaborated on a modular trade show booth for Biloxi Freezing at Seafood Expo North America 2017. The exhibit was definitely cool, but what made this booth interesting is how all of the different elements came together.

biloxi freezing rendering trade show booth custom exhibit design

A modern interpretation of a shrimp shack inspired the front of the booth, where a large graphic is framed left and right by columns with LED screens and 3D text. The perk? A large counter works as space for a meet and greet, a casual conversation and product introduction. The “coolest” part of the exhibit was the ice-cube inspired graphic hanging sign, a pillowcase graphic of the company’s name, logo, and tagline on a “frozen” block of ice.

Biloxi Freezing’s 20×20 peninsula booth had distinct elements that created a visually interesting, fully functional selling environment at SENA 2017.

Jazzin’ it Up

New Orleans is known around the world for its jazz music. From street corners to concert halls, the sound of music constantly floats through our humid atmosphere. The American Italian Cultural Center wished to celebrate some of the American Italian jazz musicians who made New Orleans groove and asked Synergy for help.

Synergy combined sound, sight, and touch to deliver on a multimedia exhibit display installation complete with LED screens, an interactive kiosk, custom wallpaper and 3D signage. Viewers watch videos and listen to samples of the music as well as listen to interviews of the artists on the interactive stand. Large-format historical images, portraits, and personal anecdotes give exhibit viewers an intimate glimpse into the musicians’ careers and lives. Contemporary red benches provide visitors a place to sit while learning about American Italian jazz history.
