SYNERGY DESIGN GROUP A FINALIST IN INTERNATIONAL DESIGN AWARDS COMPETITION

Local Woman-, Minority-Owned Small Business a Finalist for Best Island, Best 10-by-10 Foot Exhibit in International Design Awards Competition

Synergy Design Group Selected for Two Portable Modular Award Categories for

Outstanding Exhibit Designs; Public to Decide People’s Choice

NEW ORLEANS, LA (November 29, 2018) — Synergy Design Group proudly announces selection as a finalist in EXHIBITOR Magazine’s 2019 Portable Modular Awards (PMAs). The annual competition recognizes outstanding exhibit designs “based on their aesthetics, functionality and innovation” (Exhibitor Media Group, 2018). EXHIBITOR nominated two of Synergy Design Group’s booths for clients Warped Cigars and Ocean Infinity to compete in categories Best Island Exhibit Less Than 600 Square Feet and Best 10-by-10 Foot Exhibit, respectively. A panel of experts will decide the winners of each category while the public may vote online once daily until February 25, 2019, to select the People’s Choice design. The trade show and events magazine will present the winners at EXHIBITORLIVE 2019 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

EXHIBITOR nominated Synergy Design Group’s hybrid display design for client Warped Cigars at the 2018 International Premium Cigar and Pipe Retailers Annual Convention in Las Vegas, Nevada as a finalist in the Best Island Exhibit Less Than 600 Square Feet category. A 16-foot gloss laminate tower connected to an accent beam, enclosing a VIP lounge area for individual access to Warped’s mastermind, Kyle Gellis. Two custom perimeter lightbox showcases and minimal structure reflected the cigar company’s “Exclusively Different” brand. Guest-centric details like plush carpet and hospitality counter delighted IPCPR attendees. According to Gellis, the booth was “[…] the best one we’ve done to date.”

Synergy Design Group’s booth designed for client Ocean Infinity at the 2018 Sea-Air-Space Exposition in National Harbor, Maryland will compete as a finalist in the PMA’s Best 10-by-10 Foot Exhibit category. Inspired by the company’s brand and icon, the display design embodied a modern interpretation of the ocean’s flow with a curved gloss wall and custom, contoured front counter with integrated tablet. Dimensional tagline in the client’s orange, custom graphic flooring and navy halo-lit signage enhanced the concept of tying technology into an organic environment.

SYNERGY DESIGN GROUP TO DESIGN ITALIAN-AMERICAN MUSEUM IN WAREHOUSE DISTRICT

Synergy Design Group to Develop American Italian Cultural Center’s
New Museum

Exhibit Design House Will Showcase Italian-American History
in New Orleans, Engage Guests With Multi-Sensory Museum

NEW ORLEANS, LA (August 24, 2018) — Synergy Design Group is proud to announce selection as the exhibit design house behind the new museum display coming spring 2019 to the American Italian Cultural Center (AICC) in New Orleans’ Warehouse District. The museum will document the assimilation of Italian immigrants into American and New Orleanian culture and retention of their own unique traditions through artifacts, works of art, family histories and more. Visitors may view the exhibition upon its completion on the third floor of the AICC at 537 S. Peters Street, New Orleans, LA, 70130.

The museum display will guide visitors through the first arrival of Italian immigrants to New Orleans to present day, showcasing important aspects of Italian-American life along the way. Topics covered in the museum include art, religion, family and World War II. Synergy Design Group will incorporate a mix of audio (voice recordings, music) and visual media (photographs, artifacts, articles) for a multi-sensory guest experience. The AICC “celebrates Italian-American culture past, present and future,” and the new museum display promises to showcase the Italian-American experience in detail and inspire and engage visitors (AICC, n.d.).

Synergy Design Group’s partnership with the AICC began in 2015 when the exhibit design house collaborated with the AICC’s marketing team to develop and install the American Italians in Jazz museum display. The interactive exhibit showcases influential Italian-American jazz musicians, including Louis Prima and Nick LaRocca, and their contributions to the jazz scene in New Orleans. The American Italians in Jazz exhibition is currently open to the public at the AICC Museum from 10 AM – 4 PM Monday through Friday.

We helped client Harry Hurst Middle School showcase their brand and roadrunner mascot in this branded interior project. By using a mix of wall graphics, window graphics and 3-dimensional lettering, we transformed the unused lobby and hallway walls into marketing assets. In addition to enhancing the space, the installation helps parents and prospective students learn what it means to be “Hurstastic.”

NOMCVB’s Rebrand to New Orleans & Company Celebrates People and Culture

Introducing New Orleans & Company

May 16th, 2018 was a special day for New Orleans and our Synergy team. We attended the brand launch party of one of the city’s most influential organizations, New Orleans & Company, formerly the New Orleans Metropolitan Convention & Visitors Bureau. The tourism marketing organization’s rebrand was the first in six decades and timely as we honored New Orleans’ Tricentennial.

The Meaning Behind the Rebrand

After rousing musical performances from Black Magic Drumline and the Victory Belles, New Orleans & Company President and CEO Stephan Perry revealed the new name and its meaning. “Company” refers to enterprise but also to the city’s warm and hospitable culture. Perry stated, “We believe that our culture is our greatest strength and that the people of New Orleans create that culture.” The inclusive rebrand aims to represent the city’s residents, thousands of tourism industry employees and visitors.

Stephan Perry, President and CEO New Orleans & Company reveals the new brand name at the launch party on May 16, 2018.

Following the announcement of New Orleans & Company’s new brand, we took to the streets for a celebratory second line. We paraded our way through the French Quarter to the sounds of the Young PinStripe Brass Band. We danced alongside Mardi Gras Indians and almost bumped into stilt-walkers as we waved our New Orleans & Company handkerchiefs. The festivities concluded at the Steamboat Natchez with a champagne toast alongside the Mississippi River.

After the event we mused about why New Orleans is so alluring to visitors from around the globe. We realized that in today’s independent, fast-paced world, our “Do Whatcha Wanna” lifestyle brings people together (Rebirth Brass Band, 1997). At the launch party, Gregory Rusovich, CEO Transoceanic Development and New Orleans & Company’s 2018 Chairman of the Board explained that “New Orleans is the most authentic city in the world because of our unique culture. That’s the reason why millions visit each year.” And as Perry emphasized, culture exists because of the people. So in honor of New Orleans’ 300th birthday, we celebrate New Orleans & Company and the citizens who made this city great in the past, present and future.

Without "culture-bearers" like the Mardi Gras Indians, New Orleans "loses its soul," explained Perry during Wednesday's launch party.

Ocean Infinity’s autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) is the focus in vibrant graphic floor that makes you feel ready to submerge. In addition to aesthetics, this booth is functional for our client’s trade show purposes. A meeting area made semi-private by a custom-shaped half wall and an interactive counter help team members communicate and build relationships with attendees. Furthermore, the half wall is repositionable on the left or right side for future applications. Because of the custom halo-lit signage on the back wall and counter, our client has amazing presence and visibility.

Happy National Kite Month!

Happy National Kite Month! Did you know that West Baton Rouge Parish (WBR) is the Kite Capital of Louisiana? Indeed, the area got its name from decades of kite flying and the parish’s largest festival, Kite Festival Louisiane.

In 2014, Synergy Design Group created a permanent display in the West Baton Rouge Convention & Visitor’s Bureau Tourist Information Center that showcases kite flying in WBR Parish. We installed custom wallpaper, colorful wall-mounted graphics and a monitor in a special alcove dedicated to kiting, emphasizing the beauty and freedom of the hobby. As a result, WBR visitors feel welcomed and informed. Furthermore, the branded interior brings cohesion to the space.
