Synergy Design Group to Develop American Italian Cultural Center’s
New Museum

Exhibit Design House Will Showcase Italian-American History
in New Orleans, Engage Guests With Multi-Sensory Museum

NEW ORLEANS, LA (August 24, 2018) — Synergy Design Group is proud to announce selection as the exhibit design house behind the new museum display coming spring 2019 to the American Italian Cultural Center (AICC) in New Orleans’ Warehouse District. The museum will document the assimilation of Italian immigrants into American and New Orleanian culture and retention of their own unique traditions. Specifically, the exhibition will showcase this history through artifacts, works of art, family histories and more. Visitors may view the exhibition upon its completion on the third floor of the AICC at 537 S. Peters Street, New Orleans, LA, 70130.

AMERICAN ITALIAN MUSEUM

The museum display will guide visitors through the arrival of Italian immigrants to New Orleans to present day. It also showcases important aspects of Italian-American life. For example, topics covered in the museum include art, religion, family and World War II. Additionally, Synergy will incorporate a mix of audio (voice recordings, music) and visual media (photographs, artifacts, articles) for a multi-sensory experience. The AICC “celebrates Italian-American culture past, present and future.” Therefore, the new museum display promises to showcase the Italian-American experience and inspire and engage visitors (AICC, n.d.).

SYNERGY AND THE AICC

Synergy Design Group’s partnership with the AICC began in 2015. The exhibit design house collaborated with the AICC’s marketing team to develop and install the American Italians in Jazz exhibition. The interactive exhibit showcases Italian-American jazz musicians Louis Prima and Nick LaRocca and their influence on jazz music. The American Italians in Jazz exhibition is currently open to the public at the AICC Museum from 10 AM – 4 PM Monday through Friday.

Exhibition Design Showcases Jazz – American Italian Cultural Center

JAZZIN’ IT UP

New Orleans is known around the world for its jazz music. From street corners to concert halls, the sound of music constantly floats through our humid atmosphere. The American Italian Cultural Center wished to celebrate some of the American Italian jazz musicians who made New Orleans groove and asked Synergy for help. We collaborated on an exhibition that showcases these influential musicians.

Synergy delivered a multimedia exhibition display complete with LED screens, an interactive kiosk, custom wallpaper and 3D signage. Viewers watch videos and listen to samples of the music as well as artist interviews on the interactive stand. Additionally, large-format historical images, portraits, and personal anecdotes give exhibit viewers an intimate glimpse into the musicians’ careers and lives. Visitors sit on contemporary red benches while learning about American Italian jazz history.

The installation at the American Italian Cultural Center sponsored in part by the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation is an example of how Synergy combines the different elements of exhibit design to create a visually captivating, educational and synergistic display. Furthermore, the interactive elements engage, inspire and keep visitors coming back for more.

Traveling Exhibit for the National World War II Museum

REMEMBERING PEARL HARBOR

“Remember Pearl Harbor:” these words resonate in the hearts of all Americans and remind us to be grateful for our security and freedom. In 2016, the World War II Museum commemorated the 75th Anniversary of Pearl Harbor, a tragedy that questioned both. They enlisted the help of Synergy to create a traveling exhibit that visually depicted the events of December 7, 1941.

The emotion of the attack is portrayed in large-format black and white graphics on two-sided display columns. Images of planes and smoke juxtaposed to stoic portraits imparted the chaos of the moment while honoring our soldiers. The columns are lightweight and portable enough for the exhibit to travel. In addition, the bases have the museum’s logo embossed in them. Using vertical structures gives the museum ease of reconfigurability so they fit any space.

From traveling exhibit displays to permanent installations at Synergy we use a multitude of elements to make a space come to life. We emphasize reusable design for future uses so our customers get the most out of their investment. Whether it is to commemorate a tragic event or to celebrate the beauty of life and freedom.
